Workout: What is it and how do I start doing it online?

Workout means just a workout. But not every workout is a workout. A workout is a set of exercises with your own weight or minimal weights, using horizontal bars and horizontal bars.

Such training is aimed at the complex development of strength, agility and endurance. As a rule, a walkout involves training outdoors, so it is easily accessible to anyone.

The first mentions of outdoor exercise can be found in the ancient Greeks, they called such activity “calisthenics”. Many exercises of those times (hangings, lifts, pull-ups) can also be found in modern types of walkout.

But the modern form of walkout began to take shape in the 2000s. African-American amateur athletes in the United States, not being able to train in expensive gyms, began to train outside. This is how this street sport came into being.

Such workouts quickly gained popularity, and with the development of the Internet and the appearance of videos of the first workouts of walkouts, this popularity spread far beyond America. Workout became a sports subculture with its own rules and features, popular all over the world

Types of Workout

  • Classic (Street Workout) – these are exercises with your own weight to develop strength and agility;
  • Gimbarr, or Cuban style (Gimbarr) – these are complex technical sets of exercises that require considerable strength and level of training. These exercises can be dangerous to health, this direction is not for beginners;
  • Freestyle or Street Workout Freestyle is a free program in the world of walkout, a set of exercises and bindings, which are spectacularly performed by athletes.

Pros and cons of walkout

Walkout has several obvious advantages:

  • Accessibility. Necessary tools for floor exercise, namely horizontal bars and horizontal bars, are available in many yards and outdoor playgrounds. And your own body is always with you.
  • Complex development of the body. Work out the whole groups of muscles of the back, arms, and body at a time.
  • Safety. It is the least traumatic kind of sport, or rather its classical kind, which does not suppose competitions, but is aimed to improve physical shape.
  • Low cost. There is no need to pay for training on open grounds. And from the equipment you only need the most basic sneakers and comfortable clothes.

There are a couple of disadvantages to workout:

  • First of all, it is impossible to vary the weight. If in a fitness hall you can take a lighter barbell, on a walkout playground you have to work with the weight of your body. Therefore, a walkout for beginners does not imply rapid progress at the start.
  • Secondly, in bad weather and in winter time it may be uncomfortable to train on a tourniquet. However, this does not stop those who are seriously interested in walkout – you can always train in any weather.

How to start doing workout for a beginner

There are a few tips for beginners that will make it easier to get into the sport.

  • Find a suitable playground near your home. It is better if it is a modern playground with several horizontal bars, bars and rubberized surface. But even the most common outdoor set of horizontal bars will do.
  • Be sure to stretch. You have to perform the warm-up for at least 10 minutes. Warm up your ligaments, joints and muscles well as they will be under a great load, and they must be prepared so that you do not get injured.
  • Start with simple exercises. Do not try to repeat immediately the exercises that you see on numerous videos. Pull-ups and press on bars will be enough for starters. If it is difficult to do pull-ups, start from hanging on the chinning bar, increasing the time.
  • Increase the load gradually. There is no need to overpower yourself at the first workouts. Use a healthy approach to training, allow the body to adapt to the load.
  • Train regularly. The main key to success – regular exercise. Let them be not very voluminous, but work out steadily from 3 workouts a week.
